Confidence In Per Incanto

Already in their short training career brothers Kris and Paul Shailer have shown a knack of finding talented racehorses at the yearling sales and we hope that trend continues with their purchase of our Per Incanto – I’m Samantha by Centaine yearling filly at last Friday’s South Island Sale.

It’s always encouraging as a breeder to see your horses go into the stables of leading trainers and this result arguers well for the first crop of Per Incanto yearlings going to Karaka this summer.

Lideem (Nadeem-Lissande by Fasliyev) won over 1100m in Victoria last week.

Group 1 winner Xanadu (Elusive City-Forest Dream) showed her readiness for more spoils this spring with an impressive exhibition gallop between races at Te Aroha on Friday. The LA bred mare is the early $5 favourite for the Group 1 Makfi Challenge Stakes (1400m) at Hastings on 31 August.

First and foremost, stockman and people whose interest in the animal translates into an innate ability to read how a horse will develop. I’ll see a foal at LA and Sam or Buzz will tell me how they expect it to develop. I’ll see it during my Karaka inspections 12 months later, and you could blow me over with a feather
