Grand Performances Highlight LA Weanling Sale Draft

When you are a good-looking weanling half brother to two stakeswinners by popular stallion Elusive City you are going to attract a deal of interest at the National Weanling and Broodmare Sale. That's the case with LA's LOT 335 whose profile got even better when close relation Grand Dancer (No Excuse Needed-Clermont Rose) took out a 1400m event on last week's Hong Kong Mile and International Card at Sha Tin.

The recent  run of success by Savabeel's progeny on the racecourses of Australasia should add interest to LA's LOT 319 - a Savabeel colt from the stakeswinning producer Cent From Heaven, herself a full sister to the dam of Alamosa.

On the subject of Savabeel his two-year-old Kudakulari (Savabeel-Oenotria) who was sold from LA's 2008 Karaka Premier draft, followed up his Listed success in Sydney on  Derby Day with an eighth place finish - just two lengths from the winner - in a competitive Group One Champagne Stakes. Given his breeding and type the Bart Cummings trained colt looks a very exciting prospect for next season.           .

Features of LA's draft for the broodmare section of the Sale which starts on Tuesday 4 May are - LOT 798 - a well bred maiden mare in foal to Stratum, a Karaka Premier mare - LOT   569 - who has some promising progeny racing and about to race and another maiden mare - LOT 616 - who collected $126,470 in stakes from 6 career wins.

Another Towkay winner over the last week was the Sue Harty bred Madam Butterfly (Towkay-Golden Butterfly) who scored over 1400m at Awapuni last weekend.
