The scenes in the birdcage at Hastings on Saturday after the win of Survived(Zed-Liberal by Generous) pictured right in the Group 1 Makfi Challenge Stakes reconfirmed to us why we are involved in the thoroughbred industry.
Much has been made in the media about the rags to riches story of our former stallion but the real barometer of stallion success is the ability to leave group 1 WFA winners and to see that dream come to fruition on Saturday afternoon and for Survived’s breeder and owner Don Gordon, a long time client of LA, was doubly sweet.
Zed’s prowess was further emphasised with the quinella of Mr Cool Boy (Zed – Pentavale by Pentire) and Beau Zed (Zed – Flit by Lord Ballina) at Hawera last Thursday.
LA still has a significant shareholding in Zed and a select group of our mares will make the trip to Grangewilliam this spring for a date.
