LA Inspection At Karaka A Priority

LA UPDATE MONDAY 7 JANUARY 2008

The National Yearling Sale Series at Karaka begins on 28 January. LA's draft of 15 Premier and 22 Select yearlings will be high on all buyers view lists given our Karaka record. Rios, Pasta Post and Charliehorse, three of NZ's most promising horses were sold at Karaka by LA on behalf of their connections. Gorky Park (Montjeu-Steluta), runner-up to Efficient in the 2006 VRC Derby was reared and sold by the farm at the 2004 Premier Sale on behalf of the breeder Rachel Savory. We look forward to your inspections in Barn F from Saturday 26 January.

LA's Premier draft for Karaka includes half brothers to Rios and Gorky Park amongst progeny by leading sires Zabeel, Towkay, Pins and Volksraad and new season sires Savabeel, Shamardal, One Cool Cat and Johar (Gone West's best performed son).

The great "value" sale that is the Select Sale was never better evidenced than Sunday in Hong Kong. Three of the seven NZ bred winners on the ten race card came out of the Select Sale and at an average purchase price of just $41,000 - not bad buying!?! LA's draft of 21 at the upcoming Select Sale features five colts by Armada's sire Towkay, as well as progeny of leading sires Pins and O'Reilly. Promising sires Van Nistelrooy, Keeper, Hawk Wing and No Excuse Needed are also represented as are freshman sires Johar, High Chaparral, Lion Heart and Savabeel

Speaking of Hong Kong on Sunday, the LA bred All Chances (Pins-Gaysutina) further enhanced the NZ bred's record on the night with a fast closing second over 1600m. All Chances, who was bred by LA and John and Tina Todd was sold for $80,000 at the 2003 Karaka Premier Sale.

Gaysutina who was also the dam of last years $270,000 Towkay colt at Karaka Premier (since resold for a whopping $800,000 NZ at the HK International Sale) has a Towkay filly in this months Karaka Premier Sale.     Just to finish on a racing note, Towzan (Towkay-Kimberlite) lost few admirers with another brave effort when just going down in the feature at Woodville on Saturday
