The win of Larry's Never Late (Pentire-Laebeel) in Wednesday's Group Three AAMI Launceston Cup was perfect timing with the farm set to offer his half brother by O'Reilly in the upcoming Australian Yearling Sale in Sydney. Laebeel herself a stakeswinner and runner up in the 1999 Caulfield Cup to Sky Heights, has a two-year-old Pins filly that we have leased out to race from the Leon Corstens stable in Melbourne and a Pins weanling colt which we will likely take to Karaka next year.
Bred by Angela Irving nee Williams and her father Tom, Larry's Never Late was a $77,500 purchase from the 2007 Karaka Premier Sale by Robert Roulston Bloodstock for Jonathan Munz.
Winners sired by Towkay over the last fortnight have included Madam Butterfly (Towkay-Golden Butterfly) at Awapuni and Tycoon (Towkay-Clermont Lass) whose Taranaki 1400m success was his fifth to date from 21 starts.
In Singapore Esteem Power (Towkay-Dolphin Miss) won over 1600mon 26 February which takes his tally to 3 wins and 2 seconds from his last five starts
LA has a select draft of 3 yearlings heading across the Tasman to the Australian Yearling Sale which starts in Sydney on 6 April. The half brother to Larry's Never Late (LOT 9), a Zabeel filly (LOT 346) from the much sought after family of Legs, Guyno and Sixty Seconds and a Darci Brahma colt (LOT 176) from the family of Don Gordon's fine taproot mare Phareno.
