LA's Karaka Premier Draft Post Healthy Average

Given the vastly different trading conditions that existed for the Premier Sale this year compared to last we were very happy with an average of $143,636 for eleven sold compared to $98,437 for the eight sold last year.

Another pleasing aspect was the continuing support we get from some of the best eyes for thoroughbred bloodstock around these parts in the likes of Bart Cummings, his son Anthony and John Foote.

The top price in our draft went to Jim Barlow's Savabeel filly from Vedodara who sold for $270,000 to Rogerson Bloodstock, making her the highest priced Savabeel in the Sale.

The other $200,000 plus sales from our draft were the Pins-Rivertaine and the Stratum-Eloa fillies who both fetched $220,000 to the bids of Bart Cummings and Stephen Gray respectively.

The focus shifts now to the three day Select Sale

Standouts from our Select draft include on day one the Towkay colt from Miss Beam and another two cracking Towkay's in the form of the filly from Yeah Nah and a half brother to the very promising Bohika in the shape of lot 948

The team has a busy final day on Friday kicking off with Cant Keeper Down's half brother by O'Reilly as lot 986. Lorraine Jameson's Pins filly from Cantante has generated plenty of enquiry since arriving at Karaka and she sells as lot 1040. While he maybe the sixth to last Select lot sold, the No Excuse Needed colt from Forest Dream is worth waiting for as lot 1179

Winner's for Towkay in Asia over the last week have been Sparky Winner (Towkay-Mission Star) who recorded his fifth career win in Macau and Zambucca (Towkay-Straitaway) who made it two consecutive wins with his 1200m success in Malaysia

The LA bred Special Day's (Keeper-Eva's Belle) won a Class 2 1800m in Hong Kong on Saturday.
