Buyers considering LA’s offering at next month’s National Weanling and Broodmare Sale at Karaka were reminded of the farms enviable recent Sale record with the latest win by the Nadeem filly Tinkalicious (Nadeem-Tinkermia by Johar) at New Plymouth last Thursday.
Passed in as part of the LA draft at the 2014 National Weanling Sale, Tinkalicious, who is raced on lease from LA, has now won twice and placed third from just four career starts for New Plymouth trainer Janelle Millar.
LA’s draft of 12 weanlings at the 2017 National Weanling and Broodmare Sale at Karaka on 8 & 9 May features four lots by leading sire Per Incanto.
Pin-hooking and black-type opportunities have been in plentiful supply from recent LA drafts at the Sale.
Last year a Per Incanto filly who sold for $5,000 was resold as a yearling at the 2017 Select Sale for $65,000, while a Per Incanto filly Karen Zimmerman purchased for $3,500 from our 2015 draft was re-sold at the 2016 Ready To Run Sale for $150,000.
Dual Group 1 placed Rocanto (Per Incanto-Romantic Liaisons by Danasinga), stakeswinning filly It’s Time For Magic (Per Incanto-Tick Tock Time by Savabeel), Group placed New York Minute (Iffraaj- Zeno Queen by Zeno Rob Roy) and the stakesplaced filly Queen of Zealand (Savabeel-Queen of Pop by Pins) were all bought from our 2013 or 2014 drafts, with a total combined purchase price of just $34,700.
And there may in fact be a further black-type performer set to emerge from the 2014 LA draft in the shape of the Melbourne trained three-year-old filly Fastbrook (Hinchinbrook-Flying Footsteps by Fusiachi Pegasus). At just her fourth career start, the Nigel Blackiston trained filly was a strong finishing sixth in a Listed event in Adelaide a fortnight ago following an impressive win at her penultimate start at Sandown.
