Morethanlucky (Per Incanto-Viking Angel by Viking Ruler) continued his excellent new season form with an impressive win over 1600m on the Sha Tin Trophy undercard on Sunday.
Top weight and a wide draw were no barrier to the progressive four-year-old who dashed away over the closing stages to win by two and a half lengths.
Adding further merit to the performance, Morethanlucky’s race-time, a slick 1.33.56, was only .2 off the time posted for the meetings Group 2 feature.
A winner and placed in two starts as a two-year-old in N.Z from the Baker/Forsman stable, Morethanlucky was purchased from the 2015 NZB Ready To Run Sale by Magus Equine for $210,000.
The 2017 NZB Ready To Run Sale, featuring 15 lots by Per Incanto, takes place at Karaka on 22 and 23 November.
Sunday also saw an all the way win by Nahema (Per Incanto-Our Prized Rose by Prized) on the Seymour Cup undercard in Victoria. The five-year-old mare, runner-up in the Group 2 Matamata Breeders Stakes as a two-year-old, has now won three times in Australia, including her last two starts.
