Performances Bound To Boost Interest In LA's Karaka Draft

This last fortnight of race results domestically and in Australia will have heightened the interest in at least three of LA's draft for the 2009 Karaka Yearling Sales Series.

Victorian bloodstock agent Shane Moore was obviously privilege to some insider information when making his sole purchase at the Karaka Yearling Sales earlier this year.

Shane had purchased a Pentire - Nikki's Bride colt from LA's 2006 Karaka Premier draft for $220,000 and when he returned to the South Auckland salesground earlier this year to purchase LA's Savabeel - Nikki's Bride filly for $130,000, it's probably a fair assumption that the Pentire colt had already been showing something for his Adelaide trainer Richard Jolley.

The colt now called Jervois ran fourth first time to the races over 1100m in Adelaide on 18th October and since then he's recorded a win and a close second, also in the city.

The upcoming Karaka Premier Sale has LA putting forward a Pins colt from Nikki's Bride for LA, Bryan Hutchinson and Don Gordon. Last week Nikki's Bride delivered the same partnership another attractive colt, this time by Darci Brahma.

Towkay enjoyed a fruitful return at last Thursdays Otaki races when represented by Tsonga (Towkay - Cantante), a winner of the three-year-old race, then as dam sire of City Newton (Elusive City - Double Okay), an all the way winner over 1200m when notching his second success from just three starts.

Rated highly by trainers the Bergerson, Lucock and Rogerson partnership, Tsonga an attractive dark brown gelding looks a real up and comer.

LA will present Pins and No Excuse Needed filly's from Cantante and Double Okay respectively at the Karaka Select Yearling Sale early next year. The Pins filly goes forward on behalf of Lorraine Jameson.

Winners with LA connections haven't been confined to just Australasia over the last week either. Hong Kong on November 9 saw wins to More Bountiful (Van Nistelrooy- Centaine Gu Li) and Dash (Towkay - I'm Tess). More Bountiful, sold from the LA draft at the 2006 South Island Sale for client Helen Phinney to John Foote Bloodstock, was recording his second win from just three starts for the powerful John Size/Douglas Whyte combination.

In Singapore last Friday, Noble One (Towkay-Cinzano) scored for the third time winning over 1400m at Kranji.

History, tradition, family, good values and lots of fun. Also when we inspect an LA yearling we do so with confidence in the horses’ upbringing, soundness and temperament. It’s a theory that has worked well because with Dominic we’ve bought the likes of Redeem The Dream and the stakeswinner Sir Lovesalot
