Towkay Filly Captures Group Two Placing
Trying for an all the way win in her stakes debut the three-year-old Towkay filly Blonde Bombshell produced a brave effort for third in Boxing Day's Group Two Eight Carat Classic at Ellerslie. Her fast early sectional's enabled the winner, the exceptional filly Katie Lee to post a time of 1.33.69, a clocking rarely bettered by New Zealand three-year-olds.
Part of our 2008 Karaka Premier draft for her breeders Herb Renall, B. Payn and Mark Oulaghan, Blonde Bombshell (Towkay-Millie Munroe) was sold for $150,000 to Sir Patrick Hogan, Peter Walker and Alastair Sutherland. LA sells very well related Towkay fillies from Gaysutina LOT 1011 and Trigon Lass LOT 769 at the upcoming Karaka Select Sale starting on 3 February.
Domestically the dry summer tracks have seen Towkay to the fore this last week with Parole (Towkay-Out on Bail) registering her sixth win at Timaru on 28 December and so nearly making it a double when backing up just two days later for a close second at Kurrow. The LA bred Tycoon (Towkay-Clermont Lass) scored over 1600m at Rotorua on December 27.
The LA, Don Gordon and Brian Hutchinson bred Super Bobo (Towkay-Be Reasonable) who won in Hong Kong on 27 December has a close relative in our 2010 Karaka Premier draft in the form of LOT 72 the Darci Brahma colt from Nikki's Bride.
We look forward to seeing many of you at the parade of our Karaka bound yearlings here at the farm on Sunday 10 January 2009 commencing at 10.30am. It will be a great opportunity for us to show you an outstanding cross section of types with colts by the likes of O'Reilly, Flying Spur, Towkay, Darci Brahma and Testa Rosa along with fillies by suc sires as Lohnro, O'Reilly, Towkay, Pins, and Keeper.
