USA Winner For Towkay

Xpectation (Towkay-Wooden Doll by Woodborough) has won again in the USA, this time taking a US$30,000 1600m Allowance race at Arlington Park in Washington DC last week.

Formerly trained down under by Lisa Latta, the now four-year-old mare finished midfield in the Group 3 Eulogy Stakes at her second to last NZ start before her sale stateside earlier this year.

Leica Conquistador (Encosta De Lago-Wee Leica) a winner over 1400m in Victoria on 28 September has a 2YO half sister by Bradburys Luck that we have retained and will race out of Lisa Latta's stable .

With four individual winners from four foals of racing age and yearling sale receipts approaching 1million dollars the LA, Don Gordon and Bryan Hutchinson owned broodmare Nikki's Bride is the type of mare any farm would be proud to own and her first foal Le Celibataire (by Montjeu) returned to the winners circle last week with a 1000m success in Queensland. Le Celibataire was fourth in the Group One TJ Smith Classic as a two-year-old.

The Richard Cottle bred Happee Gift (Towkay-Make Up)who became Towkay's first individual winner for the new season in Hong Kong with his 1200m success there last week was a $160,000 purchase from our 2006 Karaka Premier Draft by M C Kent.

Happee Gift is a full brother to Ambitious Owner who won the Group One Levin Classic and the Group Two Wellington Guineas. Hopefully history can repeat for Towkay in a few weeks time when impressive last start winner Rampant (Towkay-On Honeymoon) tackles the Wellington Guineas on his way south for the Group One Two Thousand Guineas on 7 November.

Unfortunately Aspinal (Pins-Clermont Rose) was unable to take her place in the Soliloquy Stakes due to Auckland's inclement weather however that could be a blessing in disguise as the filly is down to start in this Saturdays Group Two Hawkes Bay Guineas. Raced by the farm with a group of friends it will make Kelt Day even more special having a live chance in the feature supporting race.
