Wins - Perfect Timing For Upcoming Sales

Wins Highlight Weanling Sale Entry and Sydney Bound Yearlings .

The win of the LA bred filly Kallisan (Stratum-Eloa) in the two-year-old event at Waverley on Sunday has raised the profile of LA's Savabeel - Cent From Heaven weanling colt in the National Broodmare and Weanling Sale at Karaka starting on May 3. Cent From Heaven is also the mother of group winner Eloa.

A $230,000 purchase by Stephen Gray from our 2009 Karaka Premier draft, Kallisan's victory was well deserved after successive seconds at her first three starts, most notably to subsequent stakeswinner Nacho Man at Woodville on January 9.

The catalogue for the National Broodmare and Weanling Sale will be available on-line from 1 April from where you can check out LA'sdraft which besides Kallisan's close relation includes a well related colt by the very popular sire Elusive City, two Towkay weanling colts and a couple of young broodmares including a winning Volksraad mare from the family of Roman Emperor and Black Mamba, in foal to Stratum, sire of Golden Slipper second favourite Crystal Lily.

The Karaka bound Elusive City weanling colt received a timely boost with the win of his two-year-old half brother at Mondays Foxton trials. The David Haworth and Matt Dixon trained and LA owned unnamed Savabeel gelding won his trial in clearly the fastest time of the three 800m juvenile heats.

Success in the Open sprint at Wingatui on Saturday was career win number eight for Towzan (Towkay-Kimberlite) following seven victories in the North Island before his transfer south late last year.

There was further interest on the Otago card for us in the performance of the LA owned Exceed and Excell mare Royal Excess - a recent private purchase from Australia. An unlucky fifth on Saturday and one to follow over coming weeks, the daughter of former Auckland Cup winner Royal Tiara will be a welcome addition to our broodmare band this spring.

The LA bred High Return (Dubai Destination - Rivertaine) who won over 1200m in Hong Kong on Tuesday evening is a half brother to the Darci Brahma colt who fetched $250,000 from our Karaka Premier draft last month.

LA takes a select draft of three yearlings across the Tasman to the Australian Yearling Sale which starts in Sydney on 6 April. The half brother to Larry's Never Late (LOT 9) is certain to be popular with buyers while completing the LA draft are a Zabeel filly (LOT 346) from the much sought after family of Legs, Guyno and Sixty Seconds and a Darci Brahma colt (LOT 176) from the family of Don Gordon's fine taproot mare Phareno.

Anyone wanting to inspect the yearlings bound for Sydney can do so here until 30 March . Just contact Sam on 0274 853400 to make arrangements.
