It's a rare achievement to get all the cards to fall your way when you're preparing a horse to sell at auction but remarkably that's what happened with the Zoustar/Belluci Babe colt that the farm presented for sale on the 2nd and final day of the time-honoured Inglis Easter yearling sale at Riverside on Monday.
Belluci Babe’s three-quarter brother Evaporate had won the Group 3 Carbine Club on Saturday and the Zoustar entire Schwarz won the William Reid Stakes a fortnight earlier. Most importantly he travelled superbly and handled the atmosphere on the sales complex like an absolute pro, befitting his exceptional temperament and the wonderful LA team.
The Zoustar colt sold for A$1.7 million to Sam and Douglas White from the USA. He is expected to go into training with Liam Howley in Victoria.
LA’s other yearling, the Per Incanto colt from the Pins mare Rosetta was purchased by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott for A$200,000.
Per Incanto averaged $425,000 for his 4 yearlings catalogued for sale and as at Monday afternoon he looks like ending up the leading New Zealand based sire on averages.
