Continuing buyer confidence was shown in the progeny of Time Test and Per Incanto as they stamped their mark with big sales highlighted on day 1 of the NZB Book 2 Sale at Karaka on Wednesday afternoon.
Leading bloodstock agent Chris Rutten secured LA’s Time Test colt from Towkay mare Rorippa for $115,000 following a spirited bidding duel with trainer Andrew Forsman who was keen to add to his purchase of LA’s Book 1 Time Test-Eloa filly.
The calibre of buyers purchasing Time Test yearlings this week is exciting and this continued later in the afternoon with bloodstock agent Paul Moroney signing at $130,000 for the Time Test – Affrettando colt. Bred by Hawkes Bay vet Richard McKenzie, the colt was a standout weanling, winning a promotional contest run by LA in 2019.
After purchasing Group 1 winner Bonham by Per Incanto from LA at Karaka in 2019, leading owner Gary Harding had the confidence to return and purchase the Per Incanto filly from the Fussachi Pegasus mare Bellerama for $170,000, completing something of a fairytale result for Sam’s brother George and his wife Lucy who had purchased the mare from the 2018 Karaka May Sale for $4,000.
Another Team success story was LOT 580 owned by LA's secretary Kirsty Percy and yealing manager Morgan Percy who made a $1000 package purchase to realize $60,000 from the stunning Per Incanto filly Onesy.
Demand from Hong Kong for Per Incanto colts carried over into Book 2 with Hong Kong interests purchasing the colt from Falkirk mare Special Draw colt on behalf of Highline Thoroughbreds for $155,000.
