Another Winner For Towkay In Hong Kong

Sunday's win by Speedy (Towkay-Stella Suprema) in Hong Kong had extra significance given that his breeder was none other than our head groom Helen Phinney.

The LA team enjoys their racing and the post race celebrations after Yee Ha (Pins-Rivertaine) won at New Plymouth last Friday were a case in point. Retained by the stud after an injury prior to the yearling sales, the five-year-old was registering his third success from just 15 starts.

We got a further kick out of the result with Blackballed (Towkay-Panadol) running second.

A full sister to Yee Ha will be retained by the stud. She is a half sister to the Class One Hong Kong winner Regency Horse and one of the former colonies more promising imports in O'Reilly Rally (O'Reilly- Rivertaine).

Towkay
may only have had two runners at Saturday's Manawatu meeting at Awapuni but both turned in game performances to help consolidate Towkay's ninth position on the New Zealand domestic sires premiership.

Towkrite (Towkay - Kimberlite) and Wai (Towkay-Iamwhatiam) were both close seconds in their respective events.

There's a good vibe to breeding in the CD at the moment and that was never more evident than when Sam took Towkay and Zed(Zabeel-Emerald Dream) over to Palmerston North last Sunday, parading both stallions at Wellfield Lodge as part of the stallion tour organized by the Central Districts branch of the NZTBA.

There was a lot of interest in both stallions and it was pleasing to see so many breeders in attendance, including a number of LA clients. Hat's off to the organizers for the work done in bringing the event together. .

Leica Lion (Lion Hunter-We Leica) became LA broodmare We Leica's fourth individual winner from just four to race when registering his maiden win in Victoria last Saturday over 1100m.

Already the dam of group winner Delbrae and dual listed placegetter Leica Light, We Leica has proven an astute purchase from the Australian Broodmare Sale last year.

We Leica has a weanling filly by Bradbury's Luck heading home to LA from Widden in Australia. She will more than likely race in the green and yellow LA colours.

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to all the team at Little Avondale for doing another amazing job looking after my mare and bringing her precious foal safely into the world. Always such a relief knowing they will have the best of care with you!
