Australian Stakes Placing For LA Bred

Promising stayer Shotover River (Savabeel-Rivertaine by Centaine) resumed with a very encouraging second placing over a distance well short of his best, when second in the 1600m Listed Recognition Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.

The LA bred who was an $85,000 purchase from the 2011 Ready To Run Sale, was coming off a three month spell after winning his last three starts of his last preparation, all at 2200m.

It came as little surprise then that Shotover River’s co-trainer Dan Meagher purchased his Per Incanto half brother at last week’s Ready To Run Sale, paying $100,000.

First and foremost, stockman and people whose interest in the animal translates into an innate ability to read how a horse will develop. I’ll see a foal at LA and Sam or Buzz will tell me how they expect it to develop. I’ll see it during my Karaka inspections 12 months later, and you could blow me over with a feather
