Emerging four-year-old Captain Redbeard doubled his winning style in style at Warrnambool where the LA graduate showed his versatility with success on firm ground.
The Ciaron Maher-trained son of Per Incanto had broken his maiden on the track at his previous appearance on heavy going and handled the much firmer conditions on his return with aplomb.
“Getting him up to 1400 metres is bringing out the best in him,” stable representative Fergus Gregory said. “It was a good win, we were very confident with him.”
The brother to G1 Levin Classic winner Bonham and the promising Fortunato was sold by co-breeder LA for A$200,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale. They are out of the Redoute’s Choice mare Fortune’s Choice who has a Per Incanto yearling filly and is due to foal to Little Brose.
