Dolcetto Highlight Of Awapuni Action

Dead 4 or Heavy 11, it seems to make little difference to exciting galloper Docletto (Per Incanto-Our Shiraz by Nediym) whose career took another step forward with a successful open class debut at Awapuni on Saturday.

The Sylvia Kay trained Per Incanto four-year-old, who accounted for the stakes winning pair of Longchamp and Taurus on Saturday, has now won five and twice placed second from eight career starts.

Dolcetto looks set to be one of the feature attractions at the upcoming Hawkes Bay Spring Carnival, where last season he first showcased his talent with a win and two second placed finishes behind Lib Petagna’s highly rated mare Francaletta.

The promising signs for LA’s NZ Oaks runner-up Can’t Keeper Down as a young broodmare were again in evidence at Awapuni on Saturday when her lightly raced three-year-old son Keep It Savvy (Savabeel-Can’t Keeper Down by Keeper) recorded an impressive maiden win. Just her second foal, Keep It Savvy’s year older half brother is the Per Incanto gelding Bob Of The Head, already the winner of five races in Victoria for trainer John McArdle.

Family, our families have done so much together in the industry and sociably, there's not too many industries today that allow you to do that.
