Little Avondale Stud are pleased to announce the purchase of the first son of leading international sire Street Cry for stud duties in New Zealand in the form of the 2007 Champion Italian Three-Year-old Sprinter Per Incanto.
A winner twice at two years including a five length 1200m success in 68.1, Per Incanto went onto be undefeated at three in Italy culminating with success in the 1200m Group Three Premio Tudini, the only pattern race at 1200m in Italy open to three-year-olds and upwards, causing the Thoroughbred Daily News to write
"Per Incanto showed domineering speed to strike a blow for the sophomores against Italy's older sprinting elite €“ racing prominently, Per Incanto was in front before halfway before drawing away"
Purchased by Shadwell Stud at the conclusion of his undefeated three-year-old season, Per Incanto transferred to England but an unfortunate combination of wet tracks and injury saw the colt unable to recapture his earlier form. Bought back from injury by Shadwell, Per Incanto then had two starts in the USA at five, winning the first of those, a 7 furlong Allowance on the dirt at Aqueduct.
Street Cry, a son of Machiavellian has been something of a siring revelation world-wide with group one winners in each of his first three crops including eight in his first two. His stars include history-making mare Zenyatta, winner of her first 19 starts including the Breeders Cup Classic; Street Sense, the only horse to win the Breeders Cup Juvenile and Kentucky Derby; record- breaking group one sprinter Street Boss; and locally, the likes of Shocking, Whobegotyou and Predatory Pricer. And as further proof that it's a sireline on the rise, leading international stallion Shamardal is out of a full sister to Street Cry.
Per Incanto's dam is the former twice Italian Sprint Champion Papa Reale, a daughter of leading European Broodmare Stallion Indian Ridge, a son of Ahonnora - the dam sire of leading stud success Cape Cross. Papa Reale has proven herself equally proficient at stud having left a second Champion Italian Sprinter in the Brighthill Farm stallion Patapan. Influential names in down-under breeding figure prominently in Per Incanto's female family with his second dam by Try My Best (sire of leading stallions Last Tycoon and Marju) and his third dam by Sir Ivor.
Bearing a close physical resemblance to his own sire, at 16.1 hands and a dark bay Per Incanto is an outstanding looking individual, athletic and possessing a most attractive head and outlook.
The syndicated Per Incanto will stand for a fee of $4,000 plus GST when commencing stallion duties at LA next spring.
