Five From Five In Singapore

Five from Five in Singapore

Ace Aliado (Towkay - Waikawa) who remained unbeaten winning his fifth consecutive race in Singapore last week was bred and raced here to trailing stage by LA client Christopher Grace. The four-year-old gelding took his stakes earnings to over $150,000 NZ with his latest victory.

LA's racing team registered a double success last week courtesy of promising three-year-olds Aspinal (Pins-Clermont Rose) andRampant (Towkay-On Honeymoon).

Aspinal's (pictured left) fresh-up win over 1200m at Te Rapa is a lead-in to this weekend's Listed Soliloquy Lodge Stakes at Ellerslie while Rampant's 1300m victory at Awapuni continues a campaign whose targets include the Group Two Wellington Guineas at Labour weekend.

Both horses are co owned with friends which makes it all the more satisfying.

Last season's AJC Derby winner Roman Emperor (Montjeu-Gussy Godiva) showed he was right on target for the Spring Cups with his third in Saturdays Group Two Hill Stakes in Sydney. Roman Emperor was sold from LA's 2007 Karaka Premier Draft.

The LA bred Marquardt (Shamardal-Centrefold Angel) made her first public appearance since running sixth in The Golden Slipper when stepping out at Fridays Randwick trials. The Patinack Farm owned filly who won Fridays 740m trial, has a half sister by Fast N Famous earmarked for next year's Sydney Easter Yearling Sale.

Bringelly (Towkay-Strannami) won in Brisbane over 1400m last Saturday and closer to home, the locally bred Irish Lassie (Towkay-Mary Robinson) was successful over 1400m at Foxton on 10 September.

Saturdays Listed Canterbury Belle Stakes win by Brown Eyed Girl had significance for the stud with the winners dam Lycsis producing a colt by Towkay in 2008.

Burgundy Prince (Redoutes Choice-Royal Zoff), a winner at 1500m in Queensland last week, was a $145,000 purchase from our 2004 Karaka Premier draft.
Danny O'Brien's stable looks to have another promising kiwi bred in the shape of the LA bred Whitewater Fury (Pins-Racing Waters) who made it two wins from her first three starts with a 1400m success in Victoria last week.
