Flood Gates About to Open for Per Incanto
Per Incanto’s arsenal of talent in Australia is starting to get back to the trials and if the last week of trials in Sydney are any indication, then there is no shortage of older black type talent set to join the likes of the Caulfield Guineas bound pair of Evaporate and Rue Du Royale chasing black type, now trained in Sydney by Bjorn Baker, led all the way to win her open trial over 900m while last start stakes winner Gringotts (pictured) warmed up for his return to the races with a cosy third place finish in his 1207m trial. Rounding into stakes performers was the LA and Christine and Pete Algie bred and part owned Jimmysstar, who rounded out his trial beautifully, running 2nd over 818m.
On the domestic front, the return to some warmer weather should ensure strong representation for the sire across all three days of the Colliers Hawke's Bay Spring Carnival. While down south, you didn't need to be a form analyst spending hours evaluating the Riccarton results from Saturday to work out that there was no better performance on the entire card than that of the promising Per Incanto 4YO mare Retail Therapy.
Impressive last start, recording her maiden victory after coming from 20 lengths off the pace at the 600m, Retail Therapy produced a similar type of performance on Saturday, but this time just failing to pick up the winner. The GB and SR Kemp and Oliphant Extreme bred mare, who holds a nomination for the Group 2 TAB Mile, formerly the Couplands Mile, looks a horse to follow over the spring months into the New Zealand Cup Carnival.
Per Incanto, the leading NZ based sire in HK last season and runner up on their winners premiership, stands the 2024 season at a service fee of $50,000 plus GST.
