Group 2 Placing for LA Reared Desert Lightning

Group 1 winner Desert Lightning (Pride of Dubai – Isstoora by High Chaparral) made an exciting start to a spring campaign which may include stepping up to 2000m and further, when running 2nd to $12.5 million earner Private Eye in a deep edition of the 1400m Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Bred by German based Kiwi breeder Wes Van Der Scheer, and raised by LA, Desert lightning is a three-quarter brother to the very progressive Per Incanto sprinter Oak Hill who resumed with an excellent win at Moonee Valley last weekend.

Six-year-old Desert Lightning, who was $150,000 purchase from LA’s NZB Karaka Book 1 Sale draft in 2021 by his then trainers Peter and Dawn Williams for Sarah and Chris Green and Ger Beemsterboer, holds a nomination for the 2400m Caulfield Cup on 18 October.
