Group 3 Double Cause for Celebration

LA got the perfect result with the finish of the Group 3 1600m Valachi Downs South Island Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes at Riccarton on Saturday.

Warm favourite Belle Fascino (Per Incanto-Playing For Keeps by Keeper) led all the way to record her fourth win from her last five starts and her second Group 3 in that formline. The Per Incanto 7YO mare took her stake earnings to in excess of $220,000 with her latest win.

Runner-up to Belle Fascino in the Group 3 feature, All About Magic, is a half sister to Rosetta, a young mare LA acquired last year. Rosetta is in foal to leading Australian first season Shalaa.

LA also enjoyed success in Australia during the week when the LA and Pip McCarroll bred filly Let’s Cut Loose, the first foal of the stakes winning mare Tie Me Down, won her second career start, at Perth over 1200m. Let’s Cut Loose was bought from Sledmere’s 2019 Inglis Sydney Easter Sale by Perth’s Amelia Park for $290,000.

First and foremost, stockman and people whose interest in the animal translates into an innate ability to read how a horse will develop. I’ll see a foal at LA and Sam or Buzz will tell me how they expect it to develop. I’ll see it during my Karaka inspections 12 months later, and you could blow me over with a feather
