Nadeem’s arrival at the farm has co incided with the young stallion’s progeny delivering a host of impressive performances. Hard on the heels of Sterling City’s facile success in Hong Kong last week came the win of the David Hayes trained Under de Boardwalk (Nadeem-Boardwalk Bell by Bellotto by Mr Propsector) in Adelaide on Wednesday, then Target in Sight (Nadeem-Xaaranthe by Xaar, a great grandson of Mr Propsector) franked some promising trials form to run second on debut in the two-year-old event at Rosehill on Saturday. Not to stop there Nodeemn (Nadeem-Angels) won on debut at Hawkesbury yesterday over 1000m.
The Group Two Brisbane Cup winner again had an LA flavour as we bred Light’s of Heaven’s dam I’m in Heaven - we are currently breeding from I’m in Heaven’s full sister Eloa and her half sister Luscious Legs . Last year’s Cup victor Tullamore was offered as part of our draft at the 2008 Karaka Premier Sale.
Headlined by group two winner Chicharita, Towkay’s three-year-old crop have had quite some season and that momemtum continued with two performances over the last week. Splitzer (Towkay-Ulmer) won by six and a quarter lengths in NSW last week – at just his second start – while Good Towkay (Towkay-Outstripping) took his earnings through the $100,000 barrier when successful over 1100m in Singapore last Thursday.
The wonderful versatility of Towkay was underlined when his five-year-old daughter Cee Gee Jay (Towkay-Marjie Marjie) won her third hurdle race in a row when successful over 3200m at Wingatui on Sunday to remain unbeaten over the jumps.
Punters may not have been overjoyed but there was certainly plenty of smiles from our head groom Helen Phinney, when Happy Man (Mossman-Eutrophy) saluted in the second leg of the big terminating pick 6 jackpot at Te Rapa on Saturday at odds of 16 to one . Helen bred the four year-old gelding who she sold from our 2008 National Weanling Sale draft for $38,000.
