Blue Nile (Nadeem-Blue Lady) showed great fighting qualities to get up in the shadows of the finishing post and take the Bidvest 1400 at Ellerslie on Saturday. From a Western Symphony mare and also featuring Grey Sovereign and Star Kingdom blood in his distaff, the three-year-old is a member of Nadeem’s oldest crop and fittingly owned by Lib Petagna, a wonderful client and friend of LA.
Nadeem (Redoute’s Choice-Candide by Sound Reason) arrived on the farm last Thursday and has settled in like a politician in a corporate box. Anyone wanting to come and inspect the Champion Australian Two-Year-Old is most welcome to give Sam a call on 0274 853400.
The LA bred Special Days (Keeper –Eva’s Belle ) showed his real class with a fast finishing third placing over an unsuitable distance of 1200m at Ellerslie on Saturday. A NZ 1.2 million dollar earner and group three winner in Hong Kong the eight-year-old has been repatriated to N.Z to get more opportunities over his pet distance range of 2000-2400m and Saturday was his first run for 15 months.
Towkay had three winners in two days starting last Friday. Showing his versatility as a sire, Cee Gee Jay (Towkay-Marjie Marjie) won over the hurdles at Riccarton, followed the next day by Our Jackpot (Towkay-Flush) winning a $20,000 event over 1200m at Trentham and Secret Gathering (Towkay-Gemardi) victorious over 1050 in Macau.
There was further success for LA at Trentham’s Premier meeting with Let’s Go Fratelli (Pins-Nikki’s Bride) winning his second race from his last three starts when successful over 1400m. Bred by LA, Don Gordon and Bryan Hutchinson, the four-year-old continued the run of recent success for his part owner Lib Petagna.
