It's All About Dubawi

Last weekend saw international super sire Dubawi sire dual Group 1 and Group 2 winners, as well as stakes winners across three countries in two hemispheres.

Million dollar earner Ball of Muscle (Dubawi-Parfore by Gold Brose) started the golden weekend for his sire when he landed consecutive black-type wins and his fifth in pattern events with success in the Group 2 Shorts at Randwick.

On Sunday, Dubawi bought his tally of Group 1 winners to 37 when the Godolphin filly Kitesurf (Dubawi-Shimmering Surf by Danehill Dancer) flew home to win the Prix Vermeille at Longchamp, followed moments later by victory in the Gr1 National Stakes at the Curragh by unbeaten 2YO colt Quorto (Dubawi-Volume by Mount Nelson).

On the same Longchamp card, 3YO colt Brundtland (Dubawi-Future Generation by Hurricane Run) made it three wins in as many starts and staked his Arc claim when leading practically all the way to win the G2 Prix Niel. Capping off the global domination, in Germany that same day, 3YO filly Lunar Maria won her maiden stakes race over a mile, bring up stakes winner #160!

The only son of Dubawi at stud in NZ, dual Group 2 winner Time Test (Dubawi-Passage of Time by Dansili) stands his first southern hemisphere season at Little Avondale this spring for $10,000 plus GST.

Before we go, the Little Avondale Lowland Stakes has been upgraded to Group 2. Run at Hastings, the Lowland Stakes has become an outstanding guide to the New Zealand Oaks. The last two Lowland winners – Savvy Coup and Bonneval – went on to win the Oaks while Sofia Rosa, the 2016 winner, was first past the post in the Oaks, before being relegated to second. In addition, both Bonneval and Sofia Rosa won the Australian Oaks.
