Short priced favourite Yourdeel (Dundeel-Miss Zapper by Red Ransom) was still too strong for his opposition in the (1200m) Group 1 Sistema Stakes at Ellerslie on Saturday, giving LA its second win in the race with a horse that the farm has sold at Karaka.
Yourdeel was bought from LA’s 2018 Karaka Book 1 draft for 100k by Chris Rutten. The LA bred Dal Cielo (Per Incanto-Cent From Heaven by Centaine) won the Group 1 feature in 2015 when it was registered as the Diamond Stakes.
The first starter, LA bred filly On Show (Showcasing-Bondi Beauty by Danasinga), won the juvenile event at Trentham on Saturday, providing connections with a quick return on the 70k they paid for the filly at the RTR last November.
Monaco (Per Incanto-Monarch by Volksraad) and Magico (Per Incanto-Our Aspiration by Mi Preferido), with their wins at Ellerslie and Trentham on Saturday keep Per Incanto hot on the heels of Pins for second place on the NZ Sires premiership.
While over in Sydney, evergreen sprinting powerhouse Ball of Muscle (Dubawi-Parfore by Gold Brose) defeated champion sprinter Redzel in a thrilling (1000m) Group 2 Challenge Stakes. LA stands the only son of Dubawi in NZ, the dual Group 2 and 3 Ascot track record holder Time Test whose first foals are currently arriving in the Northern Hemisphere.
