LA Has 'Super Saturday'

Usually a marketing slogan for major race days in Australia, the term “Super Saturday” was an apt way to describe a great day of results across Australasia for LA on Saturday.

Locally, the LA bred and owned Stella Bella (Savabeel-Chatto Creek by Desert Prince) provided the  Awapuni highlight when successful over 1400m , while former LA based stallion Zed’s (Zabeel – Emerald Dream by Danehill) great run continued courtesy of the winners Anniestar(Zed – Star Guest) and Mr Cool Boy (Zed-Pentavale).

And on an emotion charged afternoon at Te Rapa, the LA and R Tunnicliffe bred Permesso (No Excuse Needed-Cymbidium by Centaine) took out a 2100m contest.

In Perth the LA bred Maximus Mak (Stratum – Savamour by Savabeel), a $150,000 purchase by John Chalmers Bloodstock from our 2012 Karaka Premier draft, won over 1400m.

Nadeem had a dual success in Australia on Saturday. Il Mio Destino (Nadeem-Floribunda by Brief Truce), another of her sires winning progeny featuring Never Bend in their female family, won over 1300m in New South Wales, while up in Queensland four-year-old Raging To Win (Nadeem-Calm As A Lady by Zabeel) took out a 1400m event.

The LA bred I’m In Heaven has proven a wonderful investment for Queensland’s Ron and Judy Wanless. After a lucrative racing career the daughter of Volksraad and the Centaine mare Cent From Heaven has made a fine broodmare with Saturday’s comprehensive Caulfield winner Spirit of Heaven (Savabeel-I’m In Heaven by Volksraad) looking a real chance of becoming the mares second stakeswinner after Group 1 winner Lights of Heaven.

Sound, talented, well educated horses
