Jimmysstar (Per Incanto- Anniesstar by Zed) may have tasted defeat on Australian soil for the first time but the exciting 4YO lost little caste in defeat as he went down narrowly in the 1400m Listed Elms Handicap at Flemington on Saturday.
The Ciaron Maher trained gelding pressed on from a wide draw eventually finding himself in the unfamiliar role of leading. Given little peace in front the Per Incanto gelding fought off a number of challengers up the long Flemington straight before been grabbed just short of the line.
Jimmysstar’s record is now five wins and two seconds from seven starts, for stake earnings of $271k.
Domestically, Per Incanto mare Tikki (Per Incanto-Ivy Hall by Towkay) continued her progress through the grades with another win, over 1200m at Ascot Park on Saturday. The LA bred 4YO mare, an $11k purchase from LA’s 2020 National Online Weanling Sale, has won her last three starts and has a record of three wins and two seconds from eight starts.
Time Test continued an excellent run with his progeny, producing four winners over the last four days.
The Alan Sharrock trained 3YO Brigit (Time Test-Endeavour by Faltaat) would have gone into a lot of black books after her second on debut at New Plymouth on Friday. Bred by Christopher Grace, the Time Test filly was a $120k buy from LA’s 2022 NZB Karaka Book 2 draft for her owner Mrs K Stanley.
