The 4-year-old Per Incanto (USA) gelding Lawborough (NZ) delivered down the Flemington straight in style in the last race of the Flemington Carnival for trainer Simon Zahra and jockey Jye McNeil.
McNeil slotted the gelding just behind midfield and when the splits came, he showed a great turn of foot to score by a widening margin of just over a length.
Lawborough is out of the unraced High Chaparral (Ire) mare Highly Valued (GB), who comes from the family of the Group 1-producing stallion Showcasing (GB) and the Listed winner and Group 1-producing sire Camacho (GB).
Lawborough was purchased for NZ$250,000 by Simon Zahra Racing and Cameron Cooke Bloodstock out of the Beaufort Downs Ltd draft at the 2024 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale.
