More in Store for Per Incanto 2YO after Debut Win

It wasn’t easy to stand out in LA’s quality draft of 2019 Karaka Book 1 fillies, but an athletic walk and strength ensured the Per Incanto -Anaween filly a number of fans. Determined not to head home without her were Melbourne trainers Troy and Leon Corstens and the $155k looked an astute piece of buying after Icantoo (Per Incanto-Anaween by More than Ready) recorded an impressive debut win in the 2YO race on the second day of the iconic Warrnambool Carnival in Victoria on Wednesday .

Settling at the tail of the field from her wide draw, the strongly made filly moved stylishly into the 1100m contest from the 600m before unleashing a resolute finish to make-up four lengths on the leader at the 200m.

Owned by a syndicate including ex AFL star Scott Pethybridge, the LA bred filly certainly impressed her rider Craig Williams.

“Lovely action, when I released her at the 400m she was really good and determined, I really liked her win… she’s a really, really nice filly.”

If Icantoo is an example, then the 2020/21 season promises to be a prosperous one for her sire whose stock from his best books of mares are now just starting to appear on Australasian and Hong Kong racetracks.
