Shared Secrets (Nadeem-Eva Kelly by O’Reilly) win in The Dominion Post NZ St Leger Trial at Otaki on Saturday continues an excellent run of form by the progeny of her sire Nadeem.
Coming off a fast finishing 4th in the 1600m Group 3 Desert Gold Stakes at her most recent start, the Mark Oulaghan trained filly was entitled to be the modicum of good support at Otaki. However stepping to 2100m for the first time and competing against four-year-old company is never easy yet the Nadeem filly comprehensively outstayed her opposition after being clearly headed at the 200m, a good sign with the NZ Oaks in three weeks time.
Shared Secrets joins the likes of Sydney winner Il Mio Destino (Nadeem-Floribunda by Brief Truce) amongst Nadeem’s five individual winners in the last fortnight.
Another three-year-old from Nadeem’s oldest NZ crop showing an appetite for a middle distance is the Kris Less trained and JML Bloodstock bred Karavali (Nadeem-Just Diamonds by No Excuse Needed) who ran home strongly for second over 1400m at Rosehill on Wednesday.
The LA and Longridge Ltd bred four-year-old Shoot To Kill (Per Incanto-Cheesee by Green Desert) made it three wins from his last four starts with a comfortable win over 1400m at Riccarton last Friday.
