It’s been a great few days for Lower Hutt breeders and long-time LA clients Anne and John Gilbert.
As part of the Block partnership, Anne and John bred Saturday’s impressive Flemington winner Parsifal (Darci Brahma-Della Lobra by Stravinsky), while the same interests bred and race Sunday’s debutant Hawera winner Savanah Belle (Per Incanto-Savabelle by Savabeel).
The icing on the cake came on Wednesday at Te Rapa when Codecracker (Nadeem-Zenno Queen by Zenno Roby Roy), a 4YO mare they bred as part of the Spyglass Hill syndicate and race on their own account, was a stylish winner by five and a half lengths.
A half sister to the Spyglass Hill bred multiple stakes winner New York Minute, Codecracker will eventually make a welcome addition to Anne and John’s broodmare band.
Nadeem’s (Redoute’s Choice-Candide by Sound Reason) bloodlines are certainly helping to make him an attractive proposition as a broodmare sire. At this weeks Gold Coast Magic Millions Broodmare Sale, the only two Nadeem mares in the catalogue made $680k and $480k.
