New Stakes Performer for Per Incanto

Mark Oulgahan’s warhorse Semper Magico (Per Incanto-Semper Fedelis by Grosvenor) provided the weekends domestic highlight while across the Tasman Per Incanto had another Saturday metropolitan winner.

After a comprehensive win in last weekend’s feature open handicap on the same course, Semper Magico just missed securing well-deserved maiden stakes win when second in the 2040m Listed Whanganui Cup at the River City circuit.

Since 22 August this year, from nine starts, Semper Magico has won five times, placed second three times and third once. His stake earnings are just shy of $250k.

Interestingly Per Incanto’s Australian metropolitan winner Phillipsburg’s (Per Incanto-St Martins by ) latest win, his seventh, came over 2000m at Rosehill. The JML Bloodstock bred six-year-old has stake earnings of $450k.

For good measure, Per Incanto had another Australian winner on Saturday in the form of the LA bred five-year-old mare Perkova (Per Incanto-Kekova by Elusive City) who registered her seventh career win when she was successful over 1400m.

Per Incanto has 51 yearlings catalogued for the 2024 NZB Karaka Book 1 Sale.
