OPEN DAY HERE THIS SUNDAY

We invite you to our annual open day this Sunday 28 September starting at 1pm. Not quite sure where to find us then just click on the home icon at the top of this page and hit where to find us.

A selection of the first foals by our new stallion Zed (Zabeel-Emerald Dream) will be paraded along with Towkay and Zed. This will be followed by a walk (or mini bus if you prefer) of the farm where you can see Karaka Premier and Sydney Easter bound yearlings by Zabeel, Pins, Fastnet Rock, Savabeel and Stratum. Then join us as we christen the newly renovated Trentham barn. We'd appreciate if you could phone Sam on 0274 853400 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you are coming out, that way we can have enough refreshments for everyone.

Trainer Peter McKay may have lost top sprinting mare Kay's Awake (Towkay-Wake up Suzie) to retirement last week but he certainly has a genuine replacement in last seasons group one winning filly Special Mission (Towkay-Te Akau Theme), judging by her performance to win last Saturdays Towkay Premier for fillies and mares at the Stoneybridge Stakes meeting at Hastings.

Have you noticed the recent talk about the quality of the NZ three-year-old crop from last season? Crikey they're even talking about it on Aussie retro! This reinforces the achievement of Special Mission in heading off all other fillies in the 2007/08 Three-Year-Old Free Handicap up to 1601m.

Like to race a two-year-old Towkay half brother to one of Hong Kong's more promising gallopers in Famagusta? Shares in the youngster, about to start training with Guy Lowry in Hastings, are available in ten percent increments for $2,500 per share. Phone or email Sam for more information.

Principessa (No Excuse Needed-Piata), a nice winner over 950m at the Cambridge trials on 23 September was bred by Justice Lowell Goddard and sold through our draft at the 2007 Karaka Festival Sale.

To date we've had 15 foals on the farm this season. Kalamanda (Singspiel-Kalata) and Monashees (Woodman-Altrista) have both gone up to Waikato Stud to be served by O'Reilly.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Another great job by LA Stud, we have complete confidence in you guys
