Outstanding Hong Kong Debut By LA Bred

In a performance similar to another LA connected winner on the same card, the LA bred Regency Bo Bo (Denman-Tsukioka by Flying Spur) made an impressive winning debut in Hong Kong on Sunday.

Bought from LA’s 2015 Karaka Premier draft by Cambridge bloodstock agent Stu Hale, the debutant showed a turn of foot associated with horses in much higher classes of racing, making up a number of lengths over the final 300m to win the 1200m event in a slick 1.09.52.

The Denman gelding may have left NZ shores unraced however a placing behind subsequent NZ 2000 Guineas winner Ugo Foscolo as a two-year-old, probably had a fair bit to do with him starting a warm favourite for his Hong Kong debut.

Regency Bo Bo’s ability will come as little surprise to those familiar with the female family of the three-year-old gelding, least of all his purchaser, who  acquired his close relative and now Waikato Stud stallion, Rios (Hussonet-Gussy Godiva by Last Tycoon), from LA’s2006 Karaka Premier Sale draft.

Later on the Sha Tin card, Baba Mama (Per Incanto-Irish Magic by O’Reilly) by LA’s exciting sire Per Incanto, continued his relentless march towards Class 1 racing, with another head-turning performance in taking out a 1400m event, his fourth win from his last five starts.

Confidence in knowing that buying an LA product it has being raised properly and with their record of success in black-type racing you have a better than even chance of the horse competing at the pinnacle of Australasian racing
