Pedigree Updates Continue For LA's Karaka Drafts

As Karaka 2009 draws closer there is no slow down in the incidence of pedigree updates for yearlings in our drafts across each of the three Sales.

In the Premier Sale, the half brother to Lot 149 - the Pins colt from Nikki's Bride - a son of Montjeu called Environment Patron won in Adelaide on 12 December. Another half brother in the form of Jervois (Pentire) has won in Adelaide and being placed in recent weeks from just three career starts, so there should be plenty of South Australian interest come 26 January.

Kay's Dream (Towkay-Forest Dream) who bought up successive 1200m Riccarton wins with her victory last Friday has a half brother by No Excuse Needed selling as Lot 1179 in the Select Sale on January.

Prospective buyers of fillies at Karaka particularly those with residual value as broodmares will already have targeted Lot 199 in the Premier Sale - our Pins filly from Rivertaine. Her half brother O Reilly Rally is bound to have generated even more interest in Leg's three quarter sister by taking Saturdays feature at Sha Tin, his fifth Hong Kong win in fifteen starts.

LA had even more reason to celebrate the Hong Kong meeting when on the same card the LA bred Special Days (Keeper-Eva's Belle) ran second and Ambitious Owner (Towkay-Melissa Moon) filled the same placing.

Towkay's outstanding start to the Hong Kong season continued last week with his latest success being the Richard Cottle bred Happee Gift (Towkay-Make Up) who won over 1200m for trainer Paul O'Sullivan on 17 December.

The young Danasinga mare Bellesinga had a cracking yearling sell from our Select Sale draft in 2007 for Tom and Angela Williams. Fetching $75,000 the son of No Excuse Needed, whom now races as Carchelo is running up to those looks. An impressive three length maiden winner at Matamata on 31 October, he pushed the NZ Oaks bound filly Zabeel filly Impetus to a long neck at Counties last Wednesday.

Carchelo's full brother is Lot 1578 in our Festival Sale draft.

Zambucca (Towkay-Straitaway) who recorded his sixth Malaysian success with his win at Penang last weekend is yet another example of the successful cross of mares from the Fair Trial line with Towkay. In Straitaway's case she has a double cross of Fair Trial.

From the team at LA we wish you all the best for a healthy and prosperous New Year. Those of you around the sunny Wairarapa on 11 January, please drop out to the farm for the annual parade of the exciting draft for Karaka.
