Group 2 Danehill Stakes winner Saracino (Per Incanto-Bella Daniela by O’Reilly) tackled the best older sprinters in the country in Saturday’s 1400m Group 1 NRM Sprint, fighting on courageously to finish a close third behind the winner Start Wondering and runner-up Natuzzi.
Meanwhile at the other two domestic Saturday meetings, Don Carlo (Per Incanto-Turf Fire by O’Reilly) registered his third win at just his sixth start when successful over 1200m at Riccarton, while at Woodville, fellow three-year-old, the LA and Stephen Mercer bred and owned Fibonacci (Per Incanto-Da Vinci Code by Danasinga), was too quick for the older sprinters over 1200m.
