While Lost And Running and Charms Star may be spelling for major targets the spring, Per Incanto still has a number of runners performing well on the major metropolitan tracks in Australia with the latest of those Garoppolo (Per Incanto-Savamour by Savabeel) winning impressively over 1200m on the last day of the Brisbane winter carnival at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
The LA bred 3YO gelding was last turning for home before unleashing a powerful finish down the outside of the track. Saturday’s win was well deserved as earlier in the carnival Garoppolo had looked unlucky not to play a part in the finish of a listed race when cut out of a gap with 150m left to go.
Garoppolo was a $70,000 purchase by Justin Wong's Red Hare Bloodstock from LA’s 2019 Karaka Book 1 draft.
In Hong Kong on Saturday, Per Incanto recorded his 17th individual winner for the season and strengthened his grip on the Hong Kong premiership when the David Woodhouse bred Victory Scholars (Per Incanto-You Little Ripa by Bachelor Duke) was successful over 1400 m.
