Shadows Cast (Per Incanto-Ages Past by Slavic) is Per Incantos seventh individual stakeswinner following a courageous performance to dead heat for first with the Australian bred Son of Maher in the Group 2 1600m Couplands Mile at Riccarton on Wednesday.
Despite having to work hard from a wide draw to sit outside the leader, the Mark Oulaghan trained Per Incanto gelding never shirked the issue over the closing stages.
Owned by Wellingtonian Ron Cunningham, Shadows Cast is the second new stakeswinner for Per Incanto already this season, joining fellow five-year-old Dolcetto (Per Incanto-Our Shiraz by Nediym) who took out the Group 3 Boehringer Ingelheim Metric Mile.
