Befitting a race now officially recognised as the world's leading race for sprinters, this year’s edition of the $15 million TAB Everest at Randwick on Saturday was another high pressure, handlebars down event and the effort of the most inexperienced horse in the field, bar the 3-year-old Home Affairs, Lost and Running (Per Incanto-Dreamlife by Danroad), as well as speaking volumes for the 5-year-olds class, points to some exciting times ahead for connections.
The John O’ Shea trained gelding pocketed a cool $1 million for his 4th placed finish behind the winner Nature Strip, Masked Crusader and Eduardo, who have won nearly $23 million in stake money between them.
For good measure, Per Incanto’s son Justacanta, a listed winner last start at Flemington, added more black type to his Australian resume with a fine third in a Group 3 race at Caulfield.
Per Incanto, who is fully booked at $25,000 plus GST for the 2021 season, has 16 entries for the NZB Ready to Run Sale at Karaka on November 17 and 18.
