Per Incanto’s spectacular season has meant many breeders have chosen to hang onto their 2018 foals so opportunities to purchase weanlings by NZ’s current second leading active sire were thin on the ground at the 2019 NZB May Sale Weanling Session and understandably the leading buyers pursued the two lots to sell.
Te Akau Thoroughbred principal David Ellis went to 40K to secure Ardsley’s colt from the Centaine mare Centree while New South Wales BOP Bloodstock paid 30K for the colt from the Keeper mare Pamina, put forward by Wentworth Grange.
On the racing front, Queensland on Friday witnessed a smart maiden win by the LA bred Magic Mystery (Per Incanto-Da Vinci Code by Danasinga). Patiently handled after an injury curtailed a planned tilt at last year’s Karaka Million, the Liam Birchley trained 3YO was a runaway winner over 1350m by four lengths.
