Unbeaten juvenile Sir Nate (Nadeem-Just Diamonds by No Excuse Needed) displayed the same toughness that saw him overcome some challenges as a foal to land the Listed Anuka Smoker Wellesley Stakes at Trentham on Saturday.
A winner on debut at Wanganui, a wide draw at Trentham had the powerfully made colt posted wide throughout but he dug deep over the closing stages to win the black-type event and earn a short break before targeting the Karaka Million.
Bred by Brown and Fusion Thoroughbreds, the Nadeem colt was badly kicked as a two-day old foal but grew into a smashing looking yearling that saw Lisa Latta part with $65,000 for him from our Karaka Select draft earlier this year.
Sir Nate is the 14th individual stakeswinner for Nadeem, maintaining the Group 1 winning son of Redoute’s Choices outstanding stakeswinners to runners ratio of 5.36%.
