Street Cry's Massive Influence

Street Cry

Street Cry’s influence on the Australasian thoroughbred industry has been immense and that it continues is remarkable given his limited representation down under - remembering he died prematurely at only 16.

His son Pride of Dubai currently leads the Australian sires premiership, while Per Incanto and Street Boss sit inside the top 20. Incredibly they are three of only four commercial sons of Street Cry at stud in Australasia. Shocking is the other.

On Saturday, his grandsons won all 3 Group 1 races contested across both countries. Street Boss’s son Another Wil won the CF Orr Stakes and Here to Shock and El Vencedor, both sons of Shocking, won the two Group 1 races at Te Rapa. Per Incanto had two runners in Group races on Saturday with Evaporate running third in the MRC Autumn Stakes Group 2 and Marble Arch, beaten a head, running second in the Group 3 MRC JRA Plate.

Common characteristics across the progeny of all four of his sons at stud in Australasia are speed, toughness and soundness.

They aren't making any more Street Cry’s, and both Per Incanto and Shocking are the other side of 20. Darley Australia have their homebred Anamoe, a son of Street Boss, but stud masters across both countries should be scouring the racing world looking for the right type of grandsons who remain colts.

The best sire sons of Street Cry have been the early, sprinting types. Shocking may have had the class to win a Melbourne Cup but he was fast enough to win a Group 1 CF Orr Stakes at 1400m.

Like Pride of Dubai, Little Brose won the Group One Blue Diamond Stakes at two. He was also fast and he went early, running second in a Group 3 on debut on 1 November of his 2-year-old season. Less than a month later he defeated subsequent Group 1 winner Cylinder over 1000m.

Street Boss won his two Group 1's at 1200m and 1400m.

In Little Brose, LA have secured the perfect replacement for his sire Per Incanto, and exactly the right type of stallion to continue the evolution of the Street Cry bloodline down under.
