Strong Sydney Sale For LA

Buyers voted with their chequebooks when LA’s three yearlings went through the ring at this week’s Inglis Sydney Easter Sale. Our gross aggregate of nearly 1 million was head-lined by the $500,000 paid by Asian Bloodstock Services for our Exceed And Excel colt from the Pins mare Pin Up Lae(pictureed right).

Promising Whanganui four-year-old Slazenjah (Towkay-Crisp by Zeditave) looked a serious Hawkes Bay Gold Cup chance with another strong staying effort to land Saturday’s 2100m Hawkes Bay Gold Cup Prelude at Hastings. The Paul Belsham trained galloper has won five of his 16 career starts.

Nadeem (Redoute’s Choice-Candide by Sound Reason) will stand for a service of $6,500 plus GST this breeding season. With eleven individual stakeswinners, including international group 1 winning sprinter Sterling City, the Group 1 winning two-year-old should be an even more viable proposition for local breeders, especially those looking to inject some much needed speed into their stock.
