Sweet Start to Sales Series for LA

LA have enjoyed a highly encouraging start to the Australasian summer yearling sale series.

The action kicked off at the Gold Coast this week with the Magic Millions Sale, with LA’s two yearlings realising $530k.

Star Thoroughbreds, Denise Martin and Chris Waller purchased the Anders filly from the Exceed and Excel mare Candy Bar for $330,000. LA and Bruce Perry Bloodstock secured the young mare for $230,000, with the Anders filly in utero, from the 2022 Gold Coast Broodmare Sale.

LA’s filly is the top priced Anders yearling after three days of selling.

Candy Bar is back in foal to the son of Street Cry.

LA’s Per Incanto full brother to Group 1 winner Bonham realised $200k, purchased by Victoria’s Bennet Racing, who race the unbeaten 2YO Stay Focused, an early favourite for the Group 1 Blue Diamond.

The action moves to Karaka in a fortnight’s time with the NZB Karaka Yearling Sales commencing on 28 January.

Aside from Sam greeting me at Karaka every year with “Have I got a horse for you” it’s about breeding successful and sound horses
