TIME TEST: Seven Winners Eight Days

Both LA stallions have been in red hot form in the run up to the summer yearling sale series, which get underway with the Gold Coast Magic Millions commencing on 9 January.

Time Test has delivered seven winners in eight days, headlined by progressive four-year-old Jon El Rocco’s (Time Test-Famous Attraction by Domesday) success in the 1600m $80k Timaru Cup.

A $45k purchase by Paul Willetts from his breeders Jamieson Park draft at the 2021 Karaka Book 1 draft, the emerging stayer has taken his record to 10 starts for four wins and three placings for stake earnings of nearly $100k.

Paul Willetts was also instrumental in purchasing another of Time Test’s recent winners, the Kyle Fawcett trained debutant Quick Fire (Time Test-Lutine Belle by O’Reilly), who won over 1200m at Matamata on 22 December. Bred by Te Parae’s Angela Williams, the four-year-old mare was a $27,500 purchase by the respected agent from LA’s 2021 Karaka Book 2 draft.

Posted three wide with no cover for the duration of her 1200m event at Arawa Park on Thursday, the Te Akau trained filly Sense of Timing (Time Test-Pin Up Lae by Pins) was still too tough for her 12 opponents, including fellow Time Test filly Dragon Blossom who ran a gallant second. Sense of Timing was a $100k purchase by David Ellis from LA’s 2022 Karaka Book 1 draft.

Not to be outdone by his barn mate, Per Incanto has had five winners in five days including impressive Canterbury Park bred Caulfield victor Mrs Chrissie (Per Incanto-Turf Fire by Pins) and the Jamieson Park bred Raging Blizzard (Per Incanto=Perfect Beat by Magnus) in Hong Kong. For good measure, David Woodhouse’s Group 1 winning mare added more black type to her record when running second in the 1400m Group 2 Bramco Granite and Marble Manawatu Flying Stakes at Trentham on Saturday.

Per Incanto has two yearlings to sell at the Gold Coast, headlined by LOT 686, LA’s outstanding full brother to Group 1 victor Bonham.
