Towkay And Zed At Manawatu Stallion Parade On Sunday 26 July

This Sunday we are taking both boys through the gorge to the annual stallion parade staged by the Manawatu branch of the NZ Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

Towkay and Zed will parade at Wellfield Stud in Palmerston North at 2pm. Wellfield is located at 311/29 Kairanga Road, off Bunnythorpe Road - just 5 minutes from the Palmerston North CBD.

Interest in both stallions for the upcoming breeding season continues to be positive with Sam getting confirmation this week of a date with Towkay for Mark Todd's dual winner, the well bred mare Duvauchelle. This on the back of a booking from the Vela's Pencarrow Stud for three mares.

On the racing front Prevaricate (Postponed-Trigon Lass) scored over 1800m in Melbourne during the week. The four-year-old, a winner of three in a row during his last preparation, was a $30,000 purchase from our 2006 Karaka Premier draft by Dean Hawthorne.

Keep an eye in next week's monthly newsletter for details on a new addition to LA's broodmare band, a maiden mare from currently the hottest family in the NZ Stud Book.

First and foremost, stockman and people whose interest in the animal translates into an innate ability to read how a horse will develop. I’ll see a foal at LA and Sam or Buzz will tell me how they expect it to develop. I’ll see it during my Karaka inspections 12 months later, and you could blow me over with a feather
