Towkay Mare Draws Top Weight In Ellerslie Gr.2

A wide draw, equal topweight and the prospect of a wet track are the obstacles facing the LA bred Viadana (Towkay-Yeah Nah) as she chases a hatrick of wins and her second consecutive group win, in the Gr.2 Rich Hill Mile at Ellerslie on New Years Day. Purchased from our 2010 Karaka Select Sale draft for just $29,000 by her trainer Lance Noble, Viadana has a full brother in our 2013 Karaka Select Sale draft as LOT 1035.

The LA bred Stella Bella (Savabeel-Chatto Creek), a barnmate of Viadana when part of our 2009 Karaka Select Sale draft, recorded her second career win when victorious over 1600m at Awapuni on Boxing Day. New Zealand Training Premiership leader Lisa Latta bought Stella Bella from us at the Sale for $30,000.

Another member of a previous LA Select Sale draft, Deecruz (Pins-Cruz Control) is shaping up as a handy performer. The four-year-old mare recorded her third career win at start 12 when successful over 1400m at Rotorua on 27 December.

14 sires are represented in our draft of 19 for next months Select Sale. The full brother to Viadana is complemented by the likes of the first foal (by Pins) from the good O’Reilly racemare Ciara, an Align colt from a Centaine half sister to Xanadu and a Mastercraftsman colt from the family of the unbeaten Flowerbomb.

Nadeem sired a double in Australia on Boxing Day with a total of 6 wins in 4 days over Xmas Interestingly two of these winners carry Mill Reef blood in their female family, which would be replicated in the. same mating by daughters of Towkay and O’Reilly.

We look forward to seeing you out at the Farm on Sunday 13 January 10.30am for the parade of our stallions and the Karaka 2013 yearlings.

Family, our families have done so much together in the industry and sociably, there's not too many industries today that allow you to do that.
