As Last weeks Ready To Run Sale results testify, Towkay is a great option if you are considering having your mare served late in the season and taking the resulting progeny to this Sale rather than the earlier and more traditional yearling sale route. The three lots by Towkay who sold last week realised in excess of $360,000, fantastic value for a stallion standing this season at a service fee of just $5,000 plus GST.
Overall it was a great couple of days at Karaka for LA. Our three entries, once again splendidly prepared by Lyndhurst Farm, each sold for six figures plus to great homes, with the highlight being John O Shea paying $200,000 for the Savabeel/Generous Nature colt.
If we needed further vindication for the type of horse we send to the Ready To Run Sale, the LA bred Sunofagun (Pins-Laebeel) came out and won impressively at Te Rapa on Sunday. A $390,000 purchase from last years Sale, the Stephen Marsh trained three-year-old colt was having only his second start, following an encouraging fourth place finish on debut.
Darci Brahma, who is hotter than a Wairarapa summer nor easterly at the moment, is the sire of the LA bred Sir Lovesalot (Darci Brahma- Sound Lover) who won his third race from just ten career starts with his success at Pukekohe on Saturday.
Congratulations to the connections of Madonna Mia who took out the Per Incanto @ Little Avondale Three-Year-Old event at Tauherenikau on Saturday.
